Canada must support Gaza Reconstruction in Budget 2026

More than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed, and homes, schools, hospitals, water systems and livelihoods have been destroyed. Rebuilding Gaza is estimated at more than $100 billion CAD.

But recovery must be about more than rebuilding what was destroyed. Palestinians must be able to shape their own future.

Oxfam’s report, Building the Gaza Strip Anew, is clear: lasting recovery must be Palestinian-led, rights-based and accountable, with Palestinian communities and organizations at the heart of decisions about rebuilding.

Canada has an opportunity to act

Ahead of Budget 2026, Oxfam Canada called on the federal government to allocate substantial funding for the reconstruction of Gaza. The House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance agreed.

Now, we need Canada to follow through and ensure that its support puts Palestinian leadership at the heart of Gaza’s recovery.

Add your name and call on Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne, to fund and support a Palestinian-led recovery and reconstruction of Gaza in Budget 2026.

Palestinians should decide what comes next – for their country and their lives.
