Ending global poverty begins with women’s rights

Demand an Economy that Works for Women

The global economy is not working for women. All over the world women earn less than men. Gender inequality affects the jobs women have access to, the money they earn, and the way society values their work. Women who find employment are too often rewarded, not with independence and empowerment, but with poverty wages, unequal pay and insecure jobs - that's no way to reward women for their work.

Even in the poorest communities, where poverty wages are a reality for men and women alike, women perform a disproportionate share of the crucial, yet unpaid and undervalued, work of caring for children, the sick and the aging. Too many hard-working women can barely make ends meet, while the rich are getting richer.

How can you help?

By signing today you will be joining a global movement of millions, fighting the injustices that are keeping people – particularly women and girls - poor. Together we will call on decision-makers to:

  • Implement economic policies that close the gap between women and men.
  • Create tax systems that are fair and free of loopholes, so that the richest pay their fair share.
  • Invest in vital public services like healthcare and education, that reduce and redistribute care work.
  • Encourage industry to create decent jobs that pay living wages.

Add your voice to a growing movement that is calling on decision-makers to build an economy that works for us all – not just for the wealthy few.
